Orofino, ID– On April 20, 2023 at approximately 12:23 pm Orofino Police Department was notified by the Orofino Elementary School of a subject that was seen walking in the area but not on the school grounds and was perceived to have been carrying a handgun. Officers arrived and were assisted by Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Fish and Game. They searched the scene and all areas nearby.
At this time no threat has been determined, but would like the public to remain aware of their surroundings and call if they see anything they believe to be suspicious. OPD will remain on scene and in the area until the end of the day and all students have been released. We would like to thank the school for their swift action in keeping their students safe.
