Idaho Indian Education Summit set for June 12-13 at LC State

LEWISTON – Panel discussions, presentations, breakout sessions, speakers, a jet boat trip, and tours and presentations at the Nez Perce National Historical Park are all a part of the Idaho Indian Education Summit that will take place June 12-13 at Lewis-Clark State College.

This year’s summit has the theme of “Tribal Traditions: Designing STEM Through Place, Language, and Purpose.”

The focus of the Idaho Indian Education Summit is to help educators identify strategies and obtain knowledge they can use in the classroom to promote equitable learning practices for American Indian students. The event is put on by the Idaho State Department of Education.

Anyone attending must register for the event, which costs $100 not including the jet boat ride. Continuing Education Credits are available for $50 through LC State for those who attend both days. Breakfast and lunch will be sponsored both days.

Monday’s events will be held in the Williams Conference Center (WCC) and Activity Center West (ACW) on the LC State campus prior to a jet boat ride at 5-7 p.m. offered for $75 by Beamers Hells Canyon Tours.

Here is a breakdown of the Summit agenda, subject to change, for the two days. For full descriptions and details visit www.lcsc.edu/event-services/summer-events/idaho-indian-education-summit.
