Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder Following Hit and Run in Culdesac on Friday

CULDESAC – On July 21, 2023, at about 2:41 p.m., the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 300 Block of North Main Street in Culdesac after receiving a report of a car running over a male multiple times before fleeing the scene. Upon arrival, patrol Deputies located the victim, 61-year-old Michael Dranichak. Dranichak was treated and later released by St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.
Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office Detectives were called to assist in the investigation. After processing the scene and interviewing witnesses, Detectives identified 59-year-old Brian Grimm as the suspect in the incident. They discovered that following an argument with Dranichak, Grimm used his vehicle as a weapon to strike the victim 3 times, one of those times trapping him underneath the vehicle. Grimm also caused extensive damage to two homes located in the vicinity of the crime scene when he rammed into them.
On July 22, 2023, Grimm was located and arrested by the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office for First Degree Attempted Murder and is currently located in the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center.
