2024 Habitat Homeownership Program Applications Available

October 17, 2024

(Lewiston, ID & Clarkston, WA)  – L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity (LCV HFH) has now opened applications for its Affordable Homeownership Program.

Applications are available through LCV HFH’s website, in their administrative office at 2200 8th Ave., Lewiston, at their Pumpkin Patch at the same location, and from the Habitat ReStore at 1633 G St., Lewiston.

Habitat builds homes in partnership with families who have the financial and personal capacity to be homeowners, but who can’t qualify for conventional financing. Habitat leverages volunteer labor and donations of funding and materials to complete the construction of its homes. Eligible applicants must have a current housing need, be able to make an affordable monthly mortgage payment, and be willing to partner with Habitat to accomplish sweat-equity hours and other requirements. Some of these additional requirements may include completing financial education and homeownership classes.

LCV HFH’s Affordable Homeownership Program is not a giveaway. The qualified homebuyers pay for closing costs and make monthly mortgage payments. Homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor in building their Habitat house. The Habitat homes are sold to participants of its Affordable Homeownership Program for no profit. The sale is financed with an affordable 30-year mortgage loan. These mortgage payments are then recycled to build more homes.

LCV HFH is an equal housing lender and follows a non-discriminatory policy of homeowner selection. L-C Valley Habitat does not consider race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, familial status, source of income, national origin, or other protected status when selecting future homeowners.

Applications are due to the L-C Valley Habitat office at 2200 8th Ave., Lewiston by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024. Call 509-758-7396 or email [email protected] for more information about the program. Or visit https://l-cvalleyhabitat.org/home-ownership/ for an application and more details.

“Habitat for Humanity builds homes to combat the growing problem of homelessness around the world and in our local communities. For over three decades, L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity has built decent, affordable, energy efficient homes for families in Asotin and Nez Perce Counties; giving hope to qualifying families in need by selling the homes with low or zero interest mortgages. We have finished 35 homes and will soon be starting our 36th house in the L-C Valley.”
