PRESS RELEASE: Fulcher Leads Letter Demanding Immediate Action on Idaho Forest Management

Fulcher Leads Letter Demanding Immediate Action on Idaho Forest Management
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Congressman Russ Fulcher led a letter to U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Chief Randy Moore, alongside U.S. Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch, demanding the federal agency take prompt and decisive action to address forest management and post-fire recovery in Valley County, Idaho.
The letter comes after recent and ongoing wildfires have severely affected the region, impacting the local economy and the safety of its citizens.
“The scale and severity of these incidents can be attributed to inadequate federal preventative measures and delayed response times,” wrote the lawmakers. “Valley County mainly consists of public land managed by the USFS. As such, the local economy is heavily reliant on forest management activities, including timber sales, recreational opportunities, and employment related to these initiatives. We urge prompt attention to this matter and look forward to working with the agency to safeguard Idaho’s forests.”
