AAA issues winter driving reminders

BOISE – Snowy weather and icy roads are making driving a bit more challenging these days, and AAA is sharing tips to help you safely reach your destination.

“If it’s been a while since you’ve driven on snow and ice, consider practicing in a large parking lot, away from other vehicles,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde.  “Getting a feel for how your car will respond to freezing conditions may help prevent a serious crash this winter.”

AAA’s winter driving advice

“Another aspect of safe winter driving is traction control.  Winter tires or tire chains can make a big difference,” Conde said.  “Avoid sudden acceleration, braking, and sharp turns, and if you start to slide, focus on steering over braking.”
