Older Male Found Dead Inside Shed Fire On Pullman’s College Hill

(Pullman, WA) Emergency responders are on scene of a fatal fire on Pullman’s College Hill.

City of Pullman Firefighters and Police Officers were called to a shed fire in the 400 block of Maple Street shortly before 7:00 Tuesday morning.  When firefighters entered the structure they found a deceased older male inside.  Crews are working to extinguish the stubborn blaze which involves a large amount of contents that are smoldering inside.  Fire officials say it appears that the man was living inside the small outbuilding.  The shed did not have smoke detectors or fire alarms.

A block of Maple Street and a section of Maiden Lane nearby are closed to traffic.

Police officers are on scene to investigate the death.  The fire department will investigate the cause of the fire.  Whitman County’s Coroner has been called in to recover the body, identify the victim and determine the cause of death.

Fire officials stress that the victim is not college aged.  The neighborhood is mostly quiet with Washington State University in the middle of Winter Break.
