POST FALLS, ID – Post Falls Police are investigating a homicide following a fatal shooting on February 23, 2025. Officers responded to a report of a shooting around 1:40 p.m. in the 5000 block of Dorado. The caller, who was not at the residence, reported seeing the suspect flee the scene through a home camera system and stated they believed their boyfriend had been shot inside the home.
Upon arrival, officers found a 46-year-old man deceased from gunshot wounds. The scene was secured, and investigators were called in.
Police identified the suspect as 47-year-old Jason M. Rook believed to be an ex-boyfriend of the female resident. Rook is thought to be driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Idaho license plate KJI17U. His current location is unknown, and authorities believe he is still armed.
An arrest warrant with nationwide extradition has been issued for Rook on charges of first-degree murder and burglary. In Idaho, burglary includes entering a location with the intent to commit a felony.
