BOISE, ID – Eligible Idaho homeowners can now apply for property tax relief through the state’s Property Tax Reduction program. The program offers up to $1,500 in property tax reductions for qualifying primary residences and up to one acre of land.
Applications are available online at tax.idaho.gov/ptr or through county assessor offices. Paper applications can also be downloaded from the Idaho State Tax Commission’s website. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 15, and applications must be submitted annually.
To qualify, homeowners must meet the following requirements:
- Be an Idaho resident.
- Own and occupy their home or mobile home, with a value not exceeding the limit set by law in June 2025.
- Have a total 2024 income of $37,810 or less after deducting medical expenses.
- Be one of the following as of January 1, 2025: 65 or older, a former POW or hostage, a motherless or fatherless child under 18, blind, a widow or widower, or disabled.
The program does not cover special fees imposed by government entities.
