Warrior Women’s Basketball Returns to Top 25 Ahead of Postseason Action

KANSAS CITY, MO – The women of LC State Women’s Basketball enter the postseason ranked No. 25 in the NAIA in the final coaches poll of the season. The Warrior women earned the No. 3 seed in the Cascade Conference postseason tournament and will host sixth-seeded Bushnell (Ore.) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

 

The Warrior women ended the regular season with a pair of road wins at Corban (Ore.) and Bushnell and have won nine of their last 10. The only loss in that stretch was to undefeated No. 2 Southern Oregon.

 

LC State currently ranks fourth in the NAIA in blocked shots per game (4.9), fifth in field goal percentage (.477) and seventh in scoring defense (.544). The Warriors lead the CCC in assists per game (17.6), steals per game (12.9) and turnover margin (7.21).

 

Individually, Darian Herring is third in the NAIA in blocks with 76 and is the only player in NAIA, male or female, to have at least 50 blocks and 100 assists. Herring also ranks in the top 20 in field goal percentage at .575. Ellie Sander is 12th in the NAIA in steals with 85.

 

Southern Oregon moved up one spot to No. 2 and received seven first-place votes. Oregon Tech fell one spot to No. 23.
