Police Apprehend Suspect in North Idaho Murder Case

POST FALLS, ID – Police have located and arrested a suspect in a Post Falls murder that occurred on Sunday.

According to police, the suspect in this case, Jason M. Rook, was arrested on Wednesday evening near the 3400 block of W. Seltice Way in Coeur d’Alene. He surrendered peacefully.

At around 1:40 P.M. on February 23rd, 2025, Post Falls Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 5000 block of Dorado in Post Falls. The caller, who was not on scene at the time, stated they believed their boyfriend had been shot inside the residence. The caller also stated they saw Rook flee the residence on their home camera system.

When the first units arrived on scene, they found a 46-year-old adult male deceased inside the home from gunshot wounds. The scene was secured and Post Falls Police Investigators were called to the scene.

Through the on-scene investigation, 47-year-old Rook, believed to be an ex-boyfriend of the female resident, was identified as the main suspect.  An arrest warrant with nationwide extradition was issued for Rook for 1st degree Murder and Burglary. In Idaho, the charge of Burglary includes entering a location with the intent to commit a felony.

Rook was booked into the Kootenai County Jail.
