GAINESVILLE, FL – LC State Women’s Track and Field closed out the 2025 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships with record-setting All-American performances by senior Sydnie Zywina and freshman Damaris Kibiwot. The pair shattered their own records and finished the meet as All-Americans.
“A great rebound for the Warriors on our final day here at nationals,” coach Mike Collins said. “Syd definitely started it off well with a huge jump on the day. Excited to see her do well with family here. Great to rebound from the disappointment yesterday. Damaris raced like a Warrior, fighting the whole way. She didn’t realize she had run that fast when the race was over. Nice catapult into the outdoor season and inspiration to teammates looking to stand on the podium themselves.”
Zywina started the day with a third-place finish in the triple jump for her highest finish ever at a national meet. The Orofino native hit a mark of 12.06m in her third attempt, besting her record mark of 12.03m, but did not stop there. In her first leap in the final, Zywina cleared a distance of 12.17m (39’11 ¼”) to finish in the top three of the NAIA.
Kibiwot shaved 10 seconds off her preliminary time in the 3,000m and bested her school record time by eight seconds to place seventh overall. After the top pack of five runners separated from the rest of the group, Kibiwot led the middle pack and held her position through the finish. She clocked a time of 10:01.13, besting her previous PR time of 10:09.93 that broke a 10-year-old record.
