LEWISTON, ID – Lewis-Clark State College will host the 38th annual Native American Awareness Week on campus from March 17-21. All events are free and open to the public.
Events will begin at the P1FCU Activity Center at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, with a Mini-Powwow that local fourth grade classes are invited to participate in. As the week continues, community members are invited to a language knowledge bowl, guest speaker events, a Native American Studies Panel & Roundtable Discussion, and a friendship dinner. Rounding out the week will be the Simiinekem Weweexp Paaxxam Powwow held on Friday, March 21, from 7-11:30 p.m. in the P1FCU Activity Center.
LC State’s Native American Club is presenting the events with support from the Idaho Humanities Council, Associated Students of Lewis-Clark State College, LC State Native American Alumni Chapter Nez Perce Tribe, and the Clearwater River Casino & Lodge.
