WASHINGTON, D.C. – New legislation introduced this week would put President Donald Trump’s face on the $100 bill.
Currently, Benjamin Franklin is the face of the $100 bill, but legislation introduced by Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, would oust Franklin for Trump.
“President Trump could be enjoying his golden years golfing and spending time with his family,” Gill said in the announcement. “Instead, he took a bullet for this country and is now working overtime to secure our border, fix our uneven trade relationship with the rest of the world, make America energy independent again, and put America first by ending useless foreign aid…”
The legislation in question is called “The Golden Age Act,” a reference to Trump’s proclamation upon winning the White House that we are now in the “golden age” of America. Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, cosponsored the legislation.
The Golden Age Act would require the U.S. Treasury Secretary to release a preliminary design of the bill by the end of next year and would require Trump to fully take his place on the bill by the end of 2028, at the end of Trump’s second term.
For now, the Gill bill has gotten little traction, but stranger things have happened.
“There has been no one who has done more to bring America into the golden age than President Trump,” Gill said. “Featuring him on the $100 bill is a small way to honor all he will accomplish these next four years.”
