PULLMAN, WA – Pullman Regional Hospital is seeking to fill a vacancy on its Board of Commissioners following the resignation of Karen Karpman. Karpman, who served on the board for seven years, stepped down on March 6, 2025.
Karpman, a retired clinical neuropsychologist, has lived in Pullman for more than 20 years. She worked in private practice for 17 years before retiring in 2015. During her tenure, she was a member of the hospital’s allied health staff and participated in several hospital-related organizations, including the Women’s Leadership Guild, Pullman Regional Hospital Auxiliary, and the hospital’s Ethics Committee.
“I knew this would be meaningful, but I never thought it would be so rewarding,” Karpman said. “I have so enjoyed working with such dedicated professionals. I’m going to miss everyone. I know I’m leaving the Board in very capable hands.”
Pullman Regional Hospital CEO Matt Forge expressed gratitude for Karpman’s contributions, particularly her expertise in mental health. “Karen’s experience as a mental health provider and insight has been an extraordinary asset to our board,” Forge said. “We’re so grateful for her years of service.”
The hospital is accepting applications for the six-year board term until March 27, 2025. Candidates must be registered voters residing within Pullman city limits and cannot be employed by the hospital district. Responsibilities include attending monthly public board meetings, committee meetings, and participating in hospital functions.
The Board of Commissioners will hold a regular meeting on April 2, 2025, to interview candidates and consider an appointment. The selected appointee will be required to file a Personal Financial Affairs Statement with the Public Disclosure Commission and may participate in the 2025 election.
