Idaho Governor Proclaims Volunteer First Responders’ Week

BOISE, ID – Governor Brad Little has proclaimed March 9-15, 2025, as Volunteer First Responders’ Week in Idaho, recognizing the contributions of volunteer first responders to public safety.

The proclamation states that these individuals provide essential services that protect lives and property. It acknowledges the time they dedicate to training and emergency response and encourages public appreciation for their work.

“The State of Idaho recognizes the immeasurable contributions that volunteer first responders make to our state’s safety and resilience,” the proclamation states. “It is important to acknowledge the courage, compassion, and sacrifice of these remarkable volunteers, as well as to encourage others to follow in their footsteps.”

The Orofino Fire Department responded to the proclamation, stating, “As a volunteer department, we appreciate the recognition. If you see a volunteer this week, let them know they are appreciated.”

Idaho relies on volunteers to fill critical roles in emergency response, particularly in rural areas. The proclamation encourages residents to recognize their efforts.
