LEWISTON, ID – On March 8, 2025, at approximately 6:41 p.m., police were dispatched to 300 Thain Road in Lewiston, in response to a traffic collision.
According to Lewiston Police, while en route, an officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound in the oncoming lane of Thain Road, moving away from the crash scene. The vehicle had significant front-end damage and was trailing smoke and sparks. It briefly returned to the correct lane before crossing over the center line again, striking a curb in the 100 block of Thain Road. As the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver appeared to press the accelerator to the floor, causing the tires to spin and generate a large cloud of smoke.
Following an investigation, officers determined that Kim Woods, 62, of Lewiston, had rear-ended another vehicle in the 300 block of Thain Road and fled the scene. She then collided with a second vehicle in the oncoming lanes of the 200 block before continuing to flee. Her vehicle ultimately became disabled after crashing into a curb in the 100 block of Thain Road.
Police say only minor injuries were reported. Woods was arrested for felony Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and cited for multiple misdemeanors, including two counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident, two counts of Reckless Driving, Inattentive Driving, and Transportation of an Open Container.
