CLE ELUM, WA – A three-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 90 near milepost 81 has resulted in the death of a 70-year-old man from Lewiston according to an updated report from the Washington State Patrol.
The crash occurred on Monday, March 10, at approximately 12:25 p.m. when traffic slowed for debris in the left lane. A 59-year-old truck driver from Spokane Valley failed to slow down and collided with two other vehicles. The truck driver was not injured and has been cited for negligent driving in the second degree.
The 70-year-old driver from Lewiston, Idaho, was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died. His 71-year-old passenger was not injured. Authorities confirmed that the next of kin was notified by the hospital.
The third vehicle involved was driven by a 60-year-old man from Chicago, Illinois, who was uninjured.
All individuals involved were wearing seatbelts.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
