SPOKANE – The Spokane Park Board’s Riverfront Park Committee will discuss a proposed naming rights agreement for the Spokane Pavilion during its meeting on March 10. The agreement, presented by Riverfront Park Director Jonathan Moog, would grant naming rights to a title sponsor for an initial 10-year term, with the option to extend for an additional five years.

In exchange, the sponsor would provide $2,636,692.25 over the initial term. Details about the sponsor have been shared with board members but remain confidential until the agreement receives approval.

The Spokane Pavilion, originally built as the U.S. Federal Pavilion for Expo ’74, was a gift to the Spokane region from the United States government. The Pavilion during Expo consisted of an 850-seat air-conditioned amphitheater within the primary Pavilion enclosure, a 17,000-square-foot central courtyard for theme exhibits focusing on environmental problems and solutions, and a 5,500-square-foot Federal Action Center where visitors could learn about the federal government’s approach to environmental issues.

The meeting will take place at 4 p.m. in the Pavilion Conference Room and via WebEx. The committee’s decision could lead to a significant change in the Pavilion’s identity, depending on whether the agreement moves forward.
