Latah County Man Charged After Dog Killed, Another Left Fighting for Life

Idaho Animal Rescue NetworkMOSCOW, ID – Connor Jacobson has been charged with two counts of alleged animal cruelty in connection to the death of one dog and injuries to another, according to the Latah County Sheriff’s Office.

Jacobson’s first court appearance is scheduled for March 24, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at the Latah County Courthouse.

The case stems from an incident reported on February 17, when a family dog named Lily was found deceased inside a residence, while another dog, Tumble, was discovered injured and transported to Washington State University for treatment. A necropsy is planned for Lily, and Tumble remains under veterinary care.

According to Idaho Animal Rescue, Tumble was taken in by the family only months ago due to his special needs. A family friend found him clinging to life and immediately transported him to WSU. Owners described a violent scene inside the home, reporting “blood from one end of the house to the other,” along with broken collars and bloodstains on damaged sheetrock. The suspect was reportedly a guest staying at the home.

Tumble remains in an oxygen chamber at WSU, showing improvement. His medical bills have already exceeded $3,400, and it is unclear how long he will require hospitalization. Idaho Animal Rescue is covering the cost of Lily’s necropsy but has launched a fundraiser to assist with Tumble’s veterinary expenses.

Idaho Animal Rescue NetworkA representative from Idaho Animal Rescue stated, “This was a horrific act of violence, and we are relieved to see charges filed. We hope justice is served for Lily and Tumble.”
