Pullman Police arrested Taylor Culbertson for 2nd degree assault in late October.  Officers arrested Culbertson outside his fraternity house.  The arrest came several days after the brawl occurred on Colorado Street during the early morning hours of Sunday October 20th.  Police alleged that Culbertson kicked a 21 year old man while he was knocked unconscious.  Officers said the victim and his 50 year old father were trying to break up another fight when they were assaulted by a group of men.  The victim suffered serious head injuries.

Pullman Police released surveillance images of the combatants to help identify the suspects.  Culbertson was the only person arrested.  He told police that he was acting in self-defense.

Whitman County Prosecutor Denis Tracy has declined to prosecute Culbertson.  Tracy says he cannot prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt and is unable to rule out that Culbertson was acting in self-defense.

Culbertson is no longer listed as a WSU student on the institution’s website.
