Suspect Vehicle Identified After Bicycle Rider Killed in Southern Idaho

CALDWELL, ID – Idaho State Police are looking for a driver who fled the scene after a bicycle rider was fatally struck by two different vehicles on Tuesday southern Idaho.

According to police, a bicyclist was traveling eastbound on US20/26, near Caldwell, on March 18.  At 7:03 p.m., on a westbound Interstate 84 off ramp, a gray passenger car was turning westbound onto US20/26 from the off ramp and struck the bicyclist.  The bicyclist was struck a second time by a 2013 Ram 2500 pickup that was also turning westbound.  The driver of the passenger car fled the scene.

The bicyclist, a 55-year-old-man from Caldwell, was critically injured and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet. The driver of the pickup, a 43-year-old man from Caldwell, was not injured.

Troopers are searching for a silver or light gray 2004-2006 Acura TL. The Acura was last seen driving southbound on US20/26 toward Parma following the collision.

Local businesses have assisted with the investigation, and troopers continue to request information or video specific to the immediate incident location and what occurred there on the evening of March 18.  Anyone with relevant details is asked to contact ISP dispatch at (208) 846-7500.
