MOSES LAKE, WA – A 14-year-old boy was killed and four others injured during a shooting Friday night in Moses Lake, according to the Moses Lake Police Department.
Officers were dispatched around 9:13 p.m. on March 21 to the 500 block of Loop Drive following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found five gunshot victims inside a vehicle. The 14-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other victims include a 26-year-old woman, a 17-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy, and a 12-year-old boy. Each suffered at least one gunshot wound and were transported to Samaritan Hospital for treatment.
Police said none of the victims have gang ties or were involved in criminal activity.
About two hours after the shooting, officers located a suspected vehicle abandoned on Buell Street. It was impounded and searched under a warrant. Evidence recovered led detectives to serve another search warrant Saturday afternoon at a nearby home on Buell Drive. Authorities emphasized the residents of that home are not suspects.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.
The City of Moses Lake and MLPD extended condolences to the families affected by what they called a “senseless loss” and thanked the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Washington State Patrol for their assistance.
