CLARKSTON – A 32-year-old Clarkston man was arrested Saturday evening, March 23, after police located him in possession of a stolen pickup and suspected methamphetamine.
According to court documents filed in Asotin County, a white Dodge Dakota was observed traveling east on Bridge Street around 6:50 p.m. The vehicle had no visible license plate or rear bumper and matched the description of a truck reported stolen out of Lewiston.
Police followed the pickup and found it parked outside a residence at 600 block of 10th Street. A man wearing a red hoodie, red hat, and blue jeans was seen walking from the vehicle into the home. The tail lights blinked as he walked away, indicating the vehicle had just been locked.
After confirming the license plate matched the stolen vehicle alert, officers contacted residents inside the home and identified the man as Dustin Clark. He was taken into custody due to an active warrant and suspicion of vehicle theft.
Clark told officers he had not stolen the truck and claimed he had permission to use it. He stated he was “just working on it” and said the battery had died. When asked about the keys, he told officers they were inside the house, where they were later recovered during a consent search.
A consent search of the pickup revealed a blue case containing Clark’s ID, an EBT card, a baggie of marijuana, a used meth pipe, and a small apple baggie with a white powdery substance. Additional drug paraphernalia, including items associated with fentanyl use, was also located. The powdery substance tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine.
Clark was booked into the Asotin County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, knowingly possessing a controlled substance, and third-degree driving with license suspended warrant.
