Trio of LC State Men’s Basketball Players Earn CSC Academic All-District Accolades

GREENWOOD, IN – A trio of LC State Men’s Basketball Players earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, announced on Tuesday. John Lustig earned the honor for the second time while Taden King and Peyton Nordland each received their first accolade.

The award recognizes student-athletes that excel both in the classroom and in the field of play. To be eligible, student-athletes must start in 66% of games or appear in 90%, must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and be at least a sophomore in standing. A maximum of four players are selected per program for the competitive award.

“Very proud of these three guys and the recognition they are receiving for their work in the classroom,” coach Austin Johnson said. “They have helped set a high bar in our program for their productivity and discipline. To have these accolades along with our 24-win season proves the type of elite student-athletes we are attracting here at LC.”

King, a biology education major from Rexburg, Idaho, holds a 3.90 grade-point average. The senior led the Warriors in 3-pointers made this season with 58, and did so with at 34.5%. He shot 42.6% from the floor and went 25-for-31 (.806) at the free throw line. King dealt 27 assists during the season. He started all 32 games this season for the Warriors.

Lustig is majoring in business communications and maintains a 3.71 GPA. The junior from Colfax, Wash., was voted All-Cascade Conference Honorable Mention as one of the key players for the Warriors. He ranked in the top 20 of the conference in both scoring (12.6) and rebounding (5.5) and is fifth in field goal percentage at a clip of .598. Lustig led LC State in steals with 24 and was second in assists (80). He scored the 1,000th point of his career during the conference tournament. He started all 31 games he appeared in.

Nordland holds a perfect 4.00 grade-point average as a Kinesiology major. The junior from Renton, Wash., appeared in 27 games and made nine clutch 3-pointers. During his time on the court, Nordland tallied 11 assists, seven steals and four blocks.
