MOSCOW, ID – Recent documents indicate that on January 10, 2022, Bryan Kohberger allegedly purchased a black balaclava, a type of mask covering the entire face except for the eyes. The details were outlined in recent court filings.
This purchase allegedly occurred months prior to the November 13, 2022, homicides of four University of Idaho students. A surviving roommate reported seeing a man dressed in black, wearing a mask that covered his forehead and nose, leaving only his eyes visible, inside the residence on the night of the murders. This description aligns with the characteristics of a balaclava. The witness also noted the individual had “bushy eyebrows.”
Court records also indicate that Kohberger bought a combat-style knife, along with a sheath and sharpener, on Amazon eight months prior to the killings. DNA linked to Kohberger was found on a sheath recovered at the crime scene.
Kohberger’s trial is scheduled to begin on August 11, 2025, in Boise. He faces four counts of first-degree murder and, if convicted, the death penalty.
