MOSCOW, ID -Four University of Idaho students delivered an outstanding performance at the recent Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Leadership Conference, earning multiple first-place finishes and securing the U of I BPA chapter’s spot at the BPA National Leadership Conference May 7-11 in Orlando, Florida.

Competing against top students from across the state, the U of I team showcased their skills in business, technology and communication. Their results included:

  • Sophia Gill, sophomore, of Lewiston: First place in Interview Skills.
  • Colton Moore, senior, of Sagle: First place Advanced Desktop Publishing and in Graphic Design Promotion.
  • Rylee Wimer, junior, of Lewiston: First place in Digital Media Production and in Advanced Interview.
  • Josh Norlin, senior, of Meridian: First place in C++ Programming and in Website Design.

All four also took home the team award for podcasting.

“These students have demonstrated incredible talent, dedication and professionalism,” said Carol Billing, faculty advisor and professor at U of I’s College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. “Their achievements at the state level prove they have what it takes to compete on the national stage, and I have no doubt they have an excellent chance of becoming national champions.”

The team will now prepare for the BPA National Leadership Conference. They will represent U of I against the best BPA chapters from other colleges and universities from across the country. To make this opportunity a reality, they will now be focusing on fundraising to cover the expenses of attending nationals.
