LEWISTON, ID — A Washington man is facing multiple charges after law enforcement officers arrested him in connection with an ongoing drug investigation in Lewiston on March 27.
According to court documents filed in Nez Perce County, 34-year-old Deanthony J. Kimbrew of Auburn, Washington, was arrested after fleeing from officers and allegedly discarding a bag containing cocaine.
Detectives with the Quad Cities Drug Task Force were conducting surveillance on a residence in Lewiston when they observed a black 2022 Toyota Camry with Washington license plates arrive. The vehicle was registered to a rental company, a detail investigators noted as significant due to the common use of rental cars in drug trafficking.
Shortly after, Kimbrew and others arrived at a second residence. Detectives observed a noticeable increase in short-term traffic to the home—activity they believed to be consistent with drug sales.
When officers approached the residence to question individuals, Kimbrew fled on foot. Officers pursued him through several residential properties and ultimately detained him. During the arrest, officers discovered a small bag containing approximately 3 grams of cocaine beneath him. A larger shoulder bag he had been seen carrying earlier was later found in nearby bushes. Inside, officers located approximately 20 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, and over $1,300 in cash.
A handgun was also discovered along the path of the foot chase. The weapon’s ownership remains under investigation.
Kimbrew was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and resisting and obstructing officers.
