CLARKSTON, WA – A Clarkston man was arrested March 28 after law enforcement identified him as the suspect in a stolen vehicle case and found suspected drug paraphernalia in his possession.
Deputies responded to a report of a stolen gray 1990 Toyota Camry parked at a residence on Locust Lane. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day at approximately 12:40 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies contacted Anthony L. Bybee near the vehicle. He allegedly gave deputies a false name and attempted to flee through the back of the residence.
Video surveillance from a neighboring property reportedly showed Bybee driving the stolen vehicle. Bybee told officers he was waiting for another person, but deputies said the footage contradicted his statements.
During a search, deputies located a metal pipe with residue commonly associated with drug use.
The vehicle’s registered owner told deputies Bybee did not have permission to drive the car and had previously denied his requests to use it. Witnesses at the scene supported that account.
Bybee was booked into the Asotin County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and making false statements to law enforcement.
The case remains under investigation.
