Hamilton’s Historic Season Results in Pair of All-American Honors

KANSAS CITY, MO – Alton Hamilton earned a pair of prestigious honors on Monday with two All-American honors. The Fontana, Calif., native was the lone sophomore to earn First-Team NAIA All-American honors or be named to the competitive NABC All-America Team.

“Excited for Alton to receive these well-deserved honors and recognition,” coach Austin Johnson said. “He had an incredible season and faced all kinds of defenses and coverages but met it all head on with confidence and poise. He grew in every aspect of his game and is continuing to add to an already impressive college resume. The best is still ahead for him.”

Hamilton was voted the Cascade Conference Player of the Year, along with first-team all-conference, and was the only player to average a double-double in the CCC this season. He led the conference in rebounding with 10.3 boards per game and was second in scoring with 17.3 points per game. He was second in blocked shots (31) and ranked in the top 10 in field goal percentage (.557). Hamilton shot .764 (146-191) from the free throw line.

The sophomore led the Warriors in assists this season with 81 and had 22 steals. He was voted the CCC Freshman of the Year last season and earned four Player of the Week honors this season. He was twice named Offensive Player of the week and twice named Defensive Player of the Week. Hamilton was also named to the Small College Basketball Bevo Francis Top-100 Watch List.

Hamilton grabbed 320 total rebounds this season which ranks second in a single season at LC State and his 10.3 boards per game ranks sixth. He made 146 free throws which ranks sixth in a single season. He joined the career ranks with 530 rebounds after two years which is ninth-most in school history and his 243 free throws rank seventh.

Hamilton is the third NABC All-American in school history and fifth First-Team NAIA All-American.
