LEWISTON, ID – The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lewis Clark Valley will host its 18th Annual Breakfast for Kids on Tuesday, May 6. Doors will open at 7 a.m., with the program scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. The event will take place at the Schweitzer Clubhouse in Lewiston.
Actress and author Marilu Henner is set to deliver the keynote address. Henner is best known for her role on the Emmy Award-winning television series Taxi. She has also appeared in 72 films and authored ten New York Times best-selling books on topics including health, parenting, memory, and lifestyle. Henner is recognized as one of only 12 people documented with “highly superior autobiographical memory.” She currently co-stars in the Hallmark Murders and Mysteries series Aurora Teagarden.
The event will also include the presentation of the Don Poe Community Spirit Award. This year’s recipients are Dr. Ed and Beatriz Schweitzer, who have been longtime supporters of the Boys & Girls Clubs. The Schweitzers were involved in the renovation of the Schweitzer Clubhouse and recently supported the organization’s expansion into the Palouse region.
This year’s breakfast is chaired by Club Board Member and Resource Development Chair Derek Bruce. Sponsors include CCi/Speer, P1FCU, and Regence.
Funds raised will provide operating support as well as membership and program scholarships for disadvantaged youth.
