PULLMAN, WA – The Family Medicine Residency Center, a Pullman Regional Hospital primary care clinic, welcomes Dr. Jennifer Shonk, DO, Family Medicine Physician.
Dr. Shonk will provide primary care services to patients of all ages at the Family Medicine Residency Center and serve as Core Faculty for the WSU Family Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Shonk has spent the last five years providing care at Presbyterian Medical Group in Espanola, NM. She also spent time as a Preceptor at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine.
She obtained her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from A.T. Still University, School of Osteopathic Medicine in Mesa, AZ., and completed her residency at St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Residency (now Ascension St. Vincent’s) in Jacksonville, FL.
Dr. Shonk enjoys working with patients of all ages and has a special interest in women’s health and chronic disease management. She ultimately decided to study medicine because she would have the opportunity to teach, provide care, and possibly research. She describes her philosophy of care as being built on trust as the foundation of great healthcare. “My goal is to create an open and supportive environment where patients feel comfortable reaching out when care is needed,” she says. “I am committed to meeting my patients’ needs with compassion, with a special focus on preventive medicine and helping to set patients up for long-term success.”
The Family Medicine Residency Center is a full-service primary care clinic, located in Pullman Regional Hospital’s second level, near Sid’s Pharmacy. It is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Patients are seen by resident physicians Drs. Kelsey Mader, Bolu Olawuyi, Karly Perin, Tuarum Shakir, Mohammed Younes, and Jeff Ward, along with attending physicians Dr. Brenna Harris, Dr. Jennifer Shonk, Dr. Molly Thompson, and Dr. Molly Webber. Longer appointment times at the Family Medicine Residency Center provide patients with personalized support for managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and COPD. In addition to chronic disease management, services include comprehensive obstetrics and women’s health care, preventive care, pediatrics, family medicine for all ages, and sports medicine. Opened in February 2023, the Family Medicine Residency Center is part of the Family Medicine Residency Program, a collaboration between Pullman Regional Hospital and the Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine.
