UGM Seeks to Raise $300,000 for Furnishings and Equipment at new Lewiston Shelter

LEWISTON, ID – Construction is progressing on Union Gospel Mission’s 92-bed shelter for men, women, and children at 419 Snake River Avenue in Lewiston.  The organization says it will be the region’s first clean-and-sober shelter and plans to open the facility later this year.

UGM says they reached their estimated $8.9 million funding goal for the construction phase of the building project – thanks to an Affordable Housing Program Grant sponsored by State Bank Northwest. “This grant has been pivotal in helping finalize the funding for the expansion, and we are incredibly grateful for their support,” says a post on the organization’s website.

With the construction fundraising phase complete, UGM is now focused on raising an additional $300,000 to furnish and equip the shelter for day-to-day operations. The funds raised will go toward essential items, including:

  • Mattresses & Bunk Beds
  • Playground Equipment
  • UGM Sign
  • 12-Person Passenger Van
  • Delivery Truck
  • Maintenance Equipment
  • Cafeteria Furnishings
  • Chapel Furniture
  • Common Room Furnishings
  • Office Furnishings

Those who wish to donate can do so by visiting the UGM donation page.

According to UGM, more than 250 people are experiencing homelessness in the LC Valley, of which 70% are unsheltered.
