PULLMAN, WA – The reconstruction of downtown Pullman entered its second year Monday.
The contractor has some final items left over from last year’s rebuild of Main Street. Crews are back at work to finish the job following the winter shutdown. Drivers will encounter lane and parking closures downtown on Main and Paradise Streets. One lane of traffic will remain open although there might be brief delays with flagging. This wrap up work on the downtown Pullman reconstruction is scheduled to run two weeks.
The project was initially scheduled to only take four months last summer. Crews ended up spending eight months on the job. Main Street was closed to traffic downtown for over seven months. The work to rebuild the utilities and Main Street and install new sidewalks is months behind scheduled and hundreds of thousands of dollars overbudget.
The City of Pullman is using federal government COVID relief money to pay for most of the project which is currently at over 12 million dollars.
