OLYMPIA, WA – Boat owners in Washington state are being reminded that all vessel registrations expire on June 30 each year. The Washington State Department of Licensing encourages boaters to renew early to avoid fines and ensure they remain in compliance while enjoying summer activities on the water.
Renewals can be completed online, by mail, or in person at local licensing offices. Owners will need their boat registration number and proof of ownership to complete the process.
Anyone who recently moved to Washington must register their boat within 60 days of establishing residency, while those purchasing a boat in the state must do so within 15 days.
Boaters operating a vessel with an expired registration may face fines of up to $125. The state no longer mails renewal reminders, so owners are encouraged to sign up for email notifications through the Department of Licensing’s website.
