Attorney General Labrador Issues Warning to Phone Providers Over Unlawful Robocalls

BOISE, ID – Attorney General Raúl Labrador and the 51 attorneys general participating in the Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force have issued warnings to nine voice service providers for allegedly transmitting unlawful robocalls. The letters advise that continuing this activity may violate state and federal law.

The task force shared findings from its investigation with each provider, citing analysis of illegal and suspicious robocall traffic. According to Labrador, Idaho consumers have reported scams involving jury duty, Medicare, and utility shut-offs, among others.

“We will go after network providers that continue to allow illegal robocalls to plague Idaho consumers,” Labrador stated. “If bad actors continue to disregard the law, we will hold them accountable.”

Scams traced through the investigation include impersonations of government agencies and financial institutions, Amazon charge alerts, credit card interest rate offers, Medicare schemes, student loan forgiveness scams, and COVID-related financial relief.

In addition to the warning letters, the task force has communicated its concerns to federal agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission.

The following companies received warning letters: Global Net Holdings, All Access Telecom, Lingo Telecom, NGL Communications, Range, RSCom Ltd., Telcast Network, ThinQ Technologies, and Telcentris (Voxox).
