ISP Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Suspect Wanted on Attempted Murder Charges

IDAHO FALLS, ID  – A man wanted on serious charges was arrested following a traffic stop in Bonneville County on April 8, according to the Idaho State Police.

At approximately 11:55 a.m., the ISP office in Idaho Falls was notified by the Soda Springs Police Department of a possible No Contact Order violation. Troopers located the suspect’s vehicle near Ammon Road and Lincoln Road. As a trooper attempted to initiate a stop, the driver, identified as 29-year-old Samual Zane Erickson, instructed a female passenger to exit the vehicle.

A second trooper located the woman nearby. She was found without shoes and was identified as the protected party in the active No Contact Order involving Erickson.

Troopers conducted a DUI investigation and arrested Erickson for Driving Under the Influence. They also confirmed the violation of the No Contact Order. Further investigation revealed Erickson had an active bench warrant from Caribou County for violations of his release conditions. His original charges include Attempted Murder, Attempted Strangulation, and Domestic Battery inflicting Traumatic Injury.

Erickson was booked into the Bonneville County Jail, located at 900 Environmental Way in Idaho Falls, on charges of DUI, violation of a No Contact Order, and the outstanding warrant.
