HAYDEN, ID — The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred near the intersection of Hayden Lake Road and Rhapsody Lane early Friday morning.
Deputies responded around 3:50 a.m. on April 11 to a report of an unconscious male found in a ditch. Upon arrival, the man was confirmed deceased. Further investigation revealed a vehicle approximately 60 feet down an embankment nearby.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, preliminary findings indicate the man had been involved in a single-vehicle crash and attempted to reach the roadway for help before succumbing to his injuries. Investigators noted that alcohol and/or drugs may have been contributing factors.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is handling the investigation, which remains active. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
