KAMIAH, ID — A man was taken into custody early Saturday morning following a brief pursuit with law enforcement in the Kamiah area, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. on April 12, 2025, an Idaho County deputy observed a vehicle traveling in the opposing lane of traffic. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle did not immediately yield to emergency lights and continued to elude authorities until pulling into a friend’s driveway.
The driver, identified as 67-year-old John Garcia, was arrested on multiple charges. He faces felony possession of methamphetamine and several misdemeanor charges, including possession of paraphernalia, driving without privileges, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, and a second or subsequent offense of failing to maintain liability insurance.
Garcia was also cited for infractions including fictitious display of license plates, failure to use a vehicle safety restraint, and driving on the wrong side of the highway.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office noted that all individuals accused of crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
