LEWISTON, ID – Lewis-Clark State College has once again been designated as a Military Friendly School with a special Gold-level designation by Military Friendly, the organization recently announced.
The Gold designation is made up of the top 10% of institutions outside of the top 10 category for small public colleges.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey.
Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Schools are rated on military student support and retention (weighted 30%), graduation and career outcomes (30%), financial aid and loan repayment (12%), culture and commitment (10%), academic policies and compliance (9%) and admissions and orientation (9%).
LC State has a veterans services office and works closely with veterans in utilizing their GI Bill benefits. The office also serves veterans’ spouses and dependents using transferred benefits or the Dependent Education Assistance benefits. The college has students who are in active duty as well as National Guard members who are utilizing federal tuition assistance and the State Educational Assistance Program. The college also offers a Veterans Resource Center where veterans, and those utilizing VA education benefits, can access free printing, snacks, a lounge area and computers with CAC Reader access.
“Receiving this award for the second consecutive year is a true testament to LC State’s unwavering commitment – not only to higher education but also to honoring the dedication and sacrifices made by our service members and their families,” said Mickey Kelton, LC State’s coordinator of Veterans Services. “At LC State, we are proud to support veterans in building upon their existing skills or developing new ones, easing their transition into civilian life – whether they’re returning after one tour or retiring from long-term service. We also deeply recognize and appreciate the sacrifices made by military families, whose support is invaluable. Being recognized as a Military Friendly Gold institution is an honor, and we remain committed to upholding – and surpassing – this standard.”
LC State was designated as Military Friendly in 2020 and as Military Friendly Gold in 2024.
