One Person Dead, Another Hospitalized After Collision on Highway 95 in North Idaho

BONNERS FERRY, ID – Idaho State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 95 in north Idaho on Monday.

According to police, just before noon on Monday, a blue Honda Odyssey van, driven by a 33-year-old male of Spokane, was traveling southbound on US95 near milepost 495, about 10 miles south of Bonners Ferry.

A blue Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup, driven by a 50-year-old male of Naples, Idaho, with a juvenile passenger, were traveling southbound on the highway in front of the Honda Odyssey.

The Honda Odyssey rear ended the Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup, pushing the vehicle into a northbound Honda Ridgeline, driven by a 79-year-old man from Coeur d’Alene, along with a passenger, a 72-year-old female from Coeur d’Alene.

The Honda Ridgeline and the Chevrolet pickup both started on fire after collision.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The juvenile of the Chevrolet pickup was life flighted to an area hospital.  The female passenger from the Honda Ridgeline was transported to an area hospital by ambulance. It is unknown if the occupants in the Chevrolet pickup were wearing a seatbelt.

Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
