Southern Idaho Man Sentenced to Nearly 16 Years for Armed Carjacking and Firearm Possession

BOISE, ID – A Nampa man has been sentenced to over 15 years in federal prison following a violent carjacking incident and unlawful firearm possession.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho, 34-year-old Jordan L. Davis was sentenced on April 15, 2025, to 188 months in federal prison for carjacking and illegally possessing a firearm. U.S. District Judge Amanda K. Brailsford also ordered Davis to serve three years of supervised release upon completion of his sentence and to pay more than $37,000 in restitution.

Court records show that on July 31, 2024, Davis and another person entered a residence in Nampa. Davis reportedly confronted the victim in his bedroom, pointed a firearm at the victim’s head, and threatened to kill him if he didn’t comply. He then stole several personal items along with the victim’s vehicle.

Law enforcement located Davis driving the stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, which led to a high-speed chase reaching speeds over 100 mph. The pursuit ended after officers performed a PIT maneuver. Davis was found armed and refused to follow commands for nearly 20 minutes before surrendering.

Acting U.S. Attorney Justin Whatcott praised the response from the Nampa Police Department, the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, and the Idaho State Police for safely resolving the incident. “This sentence appropriately reflects the serious nature of the crimes and ensures that a violent felon is no longer free to victimize members of our community,” Whatcott stated.

Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue emphasized the professionalism of responding officers, calling the case “a stark reminder of how quickly violent crime can escalate and put lives at risk.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David Morse and was part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program, a national initiative aimed at reducing gun violence and violent crime.
