CLARKSTON, WA – Firefighters were dispatched to a shop on fire at Vineland Cemetery in West Clarkston Tuesday afternoon.
According to Asotin County Fire District #1, the call came in at 3:45 p.m. for a building possibly on fire near the cemetery. When the first fire crews arrived they found black smoke coming from the cemetery maintenance building.
Firefighters from Clarkston and Lewiston aided in the fire attack. Firefighters quickly contained the fire and found a backhoe that was on fire in the shop.
The building and other equipment in the shop received heat and smoke damage. There were no reported injuries and inspectors from Lewiston Fire Department are investigating a cause.
