LEWISTON, ID – Beginning next week, crews in Lewiston will begin replacing a portion of the existing water transmission main located along 3rd Street, from Main Street to D Street, and D Street, from 3rd Street to 5th Street.
The City of Lewiston has contracted with Kenaston, Leone & Keeble Group, LLC to replace the section of the downtown water transmission system.
This phase of work is anticipated to be completed by June 2025. During construction, the following traffic impacts are expected:
- Closure of 3rd Street
- Reduction to one travel lane on D Street
- Reduced street parking in the construction area
Work will take place Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
This project is part of the City’s efforts to utilize its America Rescue Plan Act allocation that was designated for downtown water system upgrades.
The upcoming May 20th Bond vote will build upon these improvements, but the ARPA funds must be used before the end of 2026, according to the city.
Officials say unforeseen conditions may impact the construction schedule.
