PORTLAND, OR – Lewis-Clark State Men’s and Women’s Golf teams are in Portland for the 2025 Cascade Conference Golf Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, for three rounds of postseason action Apr. 21-23.
The three-round tournament will be played over three days at Glendoveer Golf Club in Portland, Ore., hosted by Multnomah. Both teams will play one round each day. The teams will tee off on Monday, Apr. 21, at 8:30 a.m.
THE MEN
The Warrior men have been on a roll this spring with three straight first-place finishes. LC State is carrying a lot of momentum at the best time as the winner of the CCC Championship tournament will earn the conference’s automatic bid to nationals.
LC State opened the spring with a win at the Bandon Crossings match-play event before cruising to a victory with a 17-under-par team score at The Warrior Spring Classic. The Warriors tied for first the SOU Spring Classic with No. 9 British Columbia, the final CCC tournament of the regular season, but fell in a playoff for the team title.
Individually, Alex Navarro is playing the best golf of his career. The senior earned medalist honors at The Warrior and SOU with tournament scores of 12-under and 7-under, respectively. He will lead the team of five Warriors at the conference tournament.
The rest of the squad in the first round will feature Sondre Andresen, Oscar Behle, Luke West and Lucas Ortega. Andresen brings the most CCC experience of the group, while Behle earned All-Cascade Conference honors along with Navarro last season. West has gotten better with each tournament and Ortega has the lowest round of any Warrior this season with a 65 at the home tournament.
The top 10 players in CCC scoring average will earn All-CCC honors. Navarro is in fifth heading into the tournament while West is 10th. Behle is just outside the top 10 but well within reach of the accolade based on play this week.
The Warrior men are in second place in the CCC standings in terms of scoring average (293.8). They are within 10 strokes of UBC. The team with the best scoring average throughout the four CCC tournaments will be named the regular season champions.
THE WOMEN
LC State Women’s Golf has a tough road ahead with a pair of ranked opponents also in contention for the CCC title. The Warriors rank third in the Cascade Conference in scoring average this season at 320.8, just five strokes ahead of fourth-place Southern Oregon. Top-ranked British Columbia and No. 18 Oregon Tech make for a tough field at the three-day tournament.
The Warrior women opened the spring with a seventh place showing at The Trailblazer before weather canceled the next tournament. LC State returned to the course in a big way with a win at The Warrior Spring Classic, and the Warriors finished third at the SOU Spring Classic to close out the regular season.
Freshman Giulia Belfontali earned her first collegiate win at The Warrior and sophomore Isabella Barquet has been a constant top 10 performer for LC State all season long. Barquet is the lone Warrior currently in the top 10 of the CCC in scoring average vying for All-CCC honors.
Along with Belfontali and Barquet, junior Dallis Shockey will be on the course with the Warrior women. Shockey has the most experience of anyone on the team and will compete in her third CCC Championship tournament. Sophomores Natalia Gomez and Chase Caruso round out the top five for LC State.
