AAA Reports Falling Crude Oil Prices Driving Idaho Gas Prices Down 2 Cents to $3.31 Average

Lower crude oil costs easing pump prices

BOISE, ID – The cost of crude oil has plummeted since the beginning of the month, and gas prices are slowly falling in response.

According to AAA, today’s average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is about $3.31, two cents less than a week ago, four cents more than a month ago, and 61 cents less than a year ago.

The national average currently sits at $3.15 per gallon – three cents less than a week ago, three cents more than a month ago, and 52 cents less than a year ago. Idaho ranks 10th in the country for the most expensive fuel behind California ($4.84), Hawaii ($4.51), Washington ($4.31), Oregon ($3.94), Nevada ($3.89), Alaska ($3.63), Illinois ($3.37), Pennsylvania ($3.35), and Arizona ($3.34).

“Crude oil prices have dropped significantly, creating a carryover effect for drivers filling up their cars these days,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “We’ll keep a close eye on pump prices to see if the trend of savings continues this week.”

The West Texas Intermediate benchmark for crude oil is currently trading near $63 per barrel, which is nearly $2 more than a week ago, but $5 less than a month ago. If the price of crude remains well below the $70 mark this week, gas prices could slide again this week.

  • Coeur d’Alene – $3.35
