BOISE, ID – Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador is urging residents to check their eligibility for compensation under a $39.1 million multistate settlement with Apotex, a generic drug manufacturer accused of price-fixing and limiting market competition.
The settlement, reached in coordination with 50 states and territories, addresses allegations that Apotex and another manufacturer, Heritage Pharmaceuticals, engaged in conspiracies to artificially inflate the prices of numerous generic prescription drugs. A separate $10 million settlement with Heritage was previously announced.
The Apotex settlement was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut after receiving all required state and territorial approvals. Consumers who purchased certain generic drugs between May 2009 and December 2019 may be eligible for compensation.
Information on eligibility and how to file a claim is available at www.AGGenericDrugs.com, by calling 1-866-290-0182, or by emailing info@AGGenericDrugs.com. The website includes a list of affected drugs covered by the settlements.
As part of the settlement, Apotex and Heritage agreed to cooperate with ongoing litigation involving other corporate defendants and individuals. Both companies have also committed to internal reforms and injunctive measures designed to prevent future violations of antitrust laws.
The Office of the Idaho Attorney General has stated that the action reflects ongoing efforts to ensure fair market practices and safeguard consumers from unlawful corporate behavior.
