PULLMAN, WA — Pullman Police arrested a 30-year-old man on Wednesday in connection with an investigation into rape and kidnapping reported earlier that same day.
According to a press release from the Pullman Police Department, officers responded at 6:19 a.m. on April 23 to a third-party report of rape. After speaking with the victim, police were able to identify and locate the suspect, Victor Villela.
Villela was taken into custody at approximately 2:46 p.m. and booked into the Whitman County Jail on charges of Kidnapping in the Second Degree and Rape in the Third Degree. Officers also executed a search warrant at the residence Villela was occupying.
Acting Commander Ruben Harris acknowledged the swift work of officers involved, stating, “It isn’t often that we are able to arrest a suspect the same day in these types of cases. Due to great police work, we were able to successfully apprehend the suspect without incident.”
