LEWISTON, ID – LC State Men’s Golf is coming back from the 2025 Cascade Conference Golf Championships as the CCC Runner Up, and with some hardware. Zach Anderson was named the CCC Men’s Golf Coach of the Year, while three Warriors earned All-Cascade Conference honors.
Anderson was tabbed the Coach of the Year for the second time in three years, and both Alex Navarro and Oscar Behle earned their second All-CCC honors. Freshman Lucas Ortega also earned all-conference recognition.
LC State placed second as a team at 5-under, 871, after three rounds of play. The Warriors matched No. 9 British Columbia in two of the three rounds, but a stellar second round by the Thunderbirds earned UBC the title.
“Extremely proud of our conference tournament,” coach Zach Anderson said. “We grinded from start to finish. Today’s round was solid golf. We hung around the lead rounds one and three, but the second round was just too big of a gap. These men had a spring season for the books with three first place finishes, two team titles, and 32-under-par total in stroke play events. After the fall we had, this spring play is a true testament to the work we put in over the winter. I could not be more proud of this team. Although it looks like we will come up just short of a bid to nationals, we fought hard and put our name in the conversation.
“Emotional day saying goodbye to our seniors,” Anderson added. “I want to say thank you to Oscar and Alex for all they have done for this program. They are leaving the program better than they found it.”
Navarro finished tied for second after an impressive 5-under, 68, on Wednesday. He carded four birdies and an eagle in what could be his final collegiate round. Navarro was 5-under on the week after two rounds of even par, and earned All-CCC honors for the second season in a row. He tied for third in the CCC in scoring average in conference play at 72.4.
Ortega tied for fifth place and earned All-CCC honors after strong play in his first postseason tournament. The first-year player finished 2-under in the tournament after a round of 2-under on Wednesday and was ninth in the conference in scoring average (74.7) to be tabbed All-Cascade Conference.
Sondre Andresen just missed conference honors but had one of the best tournaments of his career with a seventh-place finish. He shot an even-par, 73, on Wednesday and matched par for the tournament.
Behle finished just ahead of Ortega in the conference standings to earn All-CCC after a 3-under round to close out his career. He averaged a score 74.4 throughout conference play and tied for 13th at the CCC tournament at 4-over. He earned all-conference honors last season as well.
Luke West rounded out the week for LC State in 33rd. He played his best round on Tuesday at 2-over and finished 20-over in the tournament.
