WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted emergency approval for the sale of E-15 fuel throughout the summer months nationwide.
Following the announcement, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins issued a statement in support of the decision, citing potential benefits for both consumers and American farmers. According to Rollins, the availability of E-15 during the summer is expected to offer additional choices at the pump, support corn growers, and contribute to domestic energy efforts.
Rollins credited President Trump’s broader energy policies and thanked EPA Administrator Zeldin for the move. She also emphasized the USDA’s intention to continue collaborating with the EPA to expand market opportunities for American biofuels both domestically and internationally.
E-15, a gasoline blend containing 15 percent ethanol, is typically restricted in some areas during summer months due to air quality regulations. The emergency waiver temporarily lifts those restrictions.
The USDA and EPA indicated they plan to maintain efforts to increase U.S. energy production through expanded biofuel usage.
